Before you leave for a vacation or business trip, you’re likely performing many tasks. Packing for one person can be stressful, let alone packing for two people, or a whole family. Before you check off your pre-travel to-do list, though, make sure that you perform a couple of extra tasks that will help to protect your home or apartment in case of an emergency.

WHAT: Boston Centers for Youth & Families (BCYF) weekly block party comes to Jamaica Plain this coming Thursday, August 7th from 5-7 p.m. Join your friends and neighbors for a free cookout, music, ice cream provided by JP Licks, interactive activities, resource information tables, games, swimming and more.
Anyone else notice how the past few weeks has been near-constant jet-takeoff noise in JP? I know we need to take our share of the noise pollution, but any reason it’s happening near-constantly — and right now? Call me curious.
UPDATE: After the original series sold out in two days, a Thursday series has been added.

The Hyde Square Task Force and Boston Makers will join forces to offer summer maker workshops for children, teens, and adults.
Starting on Tuesday, July 1st and running through Tuesday, August 12th, these fun, hands-on evening workshops will combine electronics with everyday crafts and require no previous experience with electronics.
