Doesn’t Look Like a Another Dispensary is Coming to Centre Street

Last updated on January 14, 2024

Plans for another recreational cannabis dispensary to open on Centre Street seem to have flickered out.

Prolific Cannabis signed a 10-year lease for the commercial spot at 684 Centre St. in July 2022. The location has been vacant since 7-Eleven chose to not renew its lease in April 2021 after several decades of being in the location.

But a for lease sign in the window appeared in recent weeks. The commercial spot’s leasing agent Walcott Corporation declined to comment.

Prolific Cannabis declined to comment.

At the time of the lease Prolific Cannabis had received Boston Zoning Board approval to open a recreational cannabis dispensary in Allston, but it looks like it never opened. The Boston Zoning Board approved the proposed Jamaica Plain dispensary in December 2022.

Two cannabis dispensaries are operating in Jamaica Plain, Seed is at 401 Centre St., and Apothca is at 54 Hyde Park Ave.
