“We are recognizing On Centre for their great work in the past year with community events, including the Galentine’s Wine & Chocolate tour, their in-house fundraiser/promotion with Endless Jewelry, and the Holiday Stroll,” said Weber. “Owner Phil Celeste and his staff went above and beyond in doing the work to make these events festive and successful. Moreover they build integral relationships in the community, such as tabling at Open Streets and competing in our Fall Fundraiser Trivia Battle. They continue to brainstorm creative promotions that highlight their stellar customer service and give back to the community.”

Janet Galloway, branch manager at TCB-The Cooperative Bank in Jamaica Plain and JPCSMS board secretary, was named Volunteer of the Year.

“Janet first joined the JP Centre/South Main Streets board in 2021, and almost immediately took on the role of secretary to fill a gap in our leadership,” said Weber. “She has been instrumental in promoting the mission and goals of our organization throughout the community, and can be found at every event that we hold, even during COVID, including:  the Galentine’s Wine & Chocolate Tour, Taste & Tour, South Street Nite Market, Trivia Battle, and the Canine Costume Parade. We are so grateful for Janet’s presence, careful consideration, and can-do attitude within our organization. We look forward to her continued leadership in our ranks!”

JP Centre/South Main Streets provides these awards every year to one business and one volunteer in the district who goes above and beyond to contribute to Jamaica Plain in connection with the work of the Main Streets organization.

JP Centre/South Main Streets is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that seeks to bring residents, businesses, and the city of Boston together to guide the growth of Jamaica Plain’s Centre and South Streets’ business district.
