Boston Makers, the nonprofit makerspace organization, will be moving into CityPOP: JP at 3201 Washington St. in Egleston Square in April.
The organization will occupy the former Rainbow Foods, a 750-square-foot space with expanded workstations including computers, sewing and fiber arts, and a woodshop.
Boston Makers hosts Young Makers Club, Microcontroller Monday and Open Project Night programs at its current location in Hyde Square Task Force’s Youth Community Development Center at 361 Centre St. This programming and further events open to members and the community will continue at CityPOP: JP.
CityPOP: JP is a new arts-centered community in Egleston Square seeking to preserve and enrich the neighborhood, while the building, formerly home to Jackson Glass and a Latin grocer, is under development. Several musicians, dancers and visual artists will occupy other spaces in the building. CityPOP: JP’s grand opening celebration will be held Friday, April 1.
To support construction and the purchase of materials and tools for the new makerspace, Boston Makers will be launching an Indiegogo campaign at the end of this month. For details on how to donate or volunteer, please email contact@bostonmakers.org.
