Celebrate Retirement of Children’s Librarian Laura Foner

Hi neighborhood. I’ve let it get into the afternoon, but here’s your better-late-than-never Morning Memo for all things JP for Monday, June 9.

Celebrate Librarian Laura Foner: Monday evening from 6-8 p.m., stop by the Connolly Branch Library to pay tribute to Laura Foner, the well-known children’s librarian who is retiring after 18 years of service to the neighborhood. There will be refreshments, music and the presentation of a book of stories, photos and drawings for Foner. 433 Centre St.

Journalist Chris Hedges Speaks in JP: You might know Chris Hedges from his books, like “War Is A Force That Gives Us Meaning” and “Days of Destruction, Days of Revolt.” On Monday night Hedges will give a Jamaica Plain Forum talk as a man of the left decrying what he sees as the failure of liberal institutions like his former employer, the New York Times. 7-8:30 p.m. at First Church in Jamaica Plain, Unitarian-Universalist, 6 Eliot St.

New Feature on Jamaica Plain News — Tell JP Your News: I’m thrilled to announce we’ve set up Jamaica Plain News to allow residents to post their own news. It could be a post about a fundraiser you’re helping with, a recap of a Little League game or even a political screed on a problem facing the neighborhood. It’s easy to do. Here’s the form.

Have a great rest of the day, JP!
