Margarita Muniz Academy Hispanic Heritage Celebration

On Saturday, October 14 th , between 11:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m., the Muniz Academy, 20 Child St., Jamaica Plain, is inviting the entire community to join them in celebration of Hispanic Heritage month.

Come one, come all to enjoy a concert, join in arts activities, have a taste of delicious Caribbean food and walk around the school. The Muniz Academy becomes a 7 -12 High school next year and this event presents an excellent opportunity for families who have children that might be interested in coming to to the school next year to take a look.

Headlining the event is Edmar Colón, who will play a Jazz concert with his tenor saxophone, accompanied by a pianist. Puerto Rican born Edmar Colón, was awarded the prestigious Presidential Scholarship to attend Berklee College of Music with a dual major in Performance and Classical composition. Colon has performed at Jazz Festivals throughout the world. Recently he performed at the Kennedy Center for the Mary Lou Williams Jazz. The Celebrity Series of Boston is co-sponsoring Edmar Colón’s performance on this day.

The event will also include arts activities to be enjoyed by all members of the family. The Parent Council at the Muniz Academy will be providing tastes of delicious Caribbean food.

The concert will begin promptly at 11:00 a.m. so make sure to plan your early arrival.
The Muniz Academy is the only Dual Language (Spanish/English) public High School in the entire New England Area. The school has a college prep, career focused, arts enriched
curriculum in both languages. The school will open its doors to 7 th graders beginning in
September 2024.
