Two separate fires very close to each other on February 8 caused one utility pole to light up like a candle, and another damaged apartments and a store on Washington Street.
Boston Fire tweeted about a fire around 10:15 am in a mixed-use building with Robert’s Barber Shop on street level. The fire was on the second floor, and firefighters quickly knocked down the fire, which could be seen from the street. A follow-up tweet said that one firefighter was transported to a hospital with minor injuries, and that three apartments and the business were damaged by the fire.

Later that night, just hundreds of yards away, Jason Frangos tweeted out video of a utility pole at Call and Williams streets on fire around 9:38 pm. Frangos said he was walking his dog and quickly called 911, and BFD came within minutes, as residents quickly got out of the house. BFD didn’t report any injuries or damage to the house.
