New Restaurant: Evergreen Eatery + Cafe Open for Breakfast, Brunch and Lunch

Last updated on August 1, 2018

The Evergreen Eatery + Cafe recently opened by the Green Street T station, adding another good option in Jamaica Plain for breakfast, brunch, lunch, coffee and more.

“My wife and I, also my brother’s family live on Sigourney Street three minutes away from the Eatery. I always felt the need for an establishment for our neighborhood to assemble and enjoy coffee, pastries and comfort foods,” said owner Phil Paik to Jamaica Plain News.

Paik is also not new to the Jamaica Plain restaurant scene as he is the longtime owner of the popular JP Seafood Cafe on Centre Street.

Evergreen Avocado Toast includes avocado, smoked salmon, ikura, capers, pesto spread and whole wheat bread.

There are two sections to the restaurant. On one side is sit down table service for breakfast and lunch, and then there’s a cafe on the other side for grab and go drinks, pastries and sandwiches.

Paik said his favorite items are the avocado toasts and that the Evergreen Avocado Toast quickly became the number one selling item. He added the Vegan Avocado Toast (avocado, tomatoes, basil, cilantro, walnuts, vegan pesto spread, balsamic glaze on toasted multigrain toast) is one of the top sellers, too.

Other breakfast/brunch menu items include pancakes, cinnamon brioche French toast, corned beef hash and eggs, omelets and four different types of Eggs Benedict. For lunch there are also burgers and sandwiches served fries like the Faroe Island Salmon Burger and the Green Street Veggie Burger, which is served with a homemade hummus spread and garlic veggie mayo.

On the cafe side you can get your coffee fix with double shot espresso-based drinks with Blue Heron Nicaragua Selva Negra Espresso Beans. There’s hot chocolate for those colder days, iced coffee for the warmer days, teas, smoothies and fresh juices squeezed daily.

Paik is also very proud of the freshly baked goods, which are baked by his sister. “Her scones are the best and I am not the only person saying that!”

The Evergreen Eatery + Cafe is at 154 Green Street. Visit evergreeneateryjp.com for more info and the full menu.
