Hello, JP. I hope everyone had a great beginning of summer over the weekend. Here’s your Morning Memo for all things JP for Monday, June 23.
Jamaica Plain News
A UK-based coffeehouse, Caffè Nero, plans to open in Jamaica Plain. It would be the international chain’s second location in the United States. For a preview of what JP could expect, we hopped the Orange Line for a look at their Downtown Crossing location.
On Aug. 2 and 3, 34 residents from Jamaica Plain will participate in the 35th annual Pan-Mass Challenge (PMC), the largest single athletic fundraising event in the country. They will be among 5,800 cyclists who will ride with the collective goal of raising $40 million to support adult and pediatric patient care and cancer research at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute through the Jimmy Fund.
Here is the full text of a letter from one JP business group urging the owner of 733 Centre St. to reconsider leasing to Caffè Nero, a London-based coffee chain.
Each weekday we post a random image from around the neighborhood. This graffiti caught my eye on South Street.
UPDATE: A savvy reader informs us that this is none other than the famous Goldenstash.

The neighborhood would be better served if the landlord at 733 Centre St. picked a tenant other than Caffè Nero, the London-based coffee and sandwich chain which plans to open a second Boston location there. At least that’s the argument one local business group is making.
