Visit the restaurant’s Instagram post and comment which school’s teachers you think should get the delicious sandwiches. This is not a contest. As their Insta post points out, it’s a thank you to teachers because they do a lot, “…and they don’t always get appreciated as they should.”   View…

Reading the Weather at the Arnold Arboretum

Last week’s winter storm offered a vivid reminder of New England’s climate in motion: nearly 18 inches of snow fell at the Arnold Arboretum between January 25 and 26—more than Boston received in each of the past two winters in their entirety. For the Arnold Arboretum, storms like this are more than remarkable weather events; they are data points in a long continuum of observation that extends nearly a century. Weather has long been one…

Determined to keep the Rhode Island theater going, the director’s wife, Maggie, decides to save…

The city provided an update about the cost of White Stadium, saying the cost for the, pretty much, all-new stadium is now $325 million, with $135 million of that to be paid by the city. The Boston Legacy FC women’s soccer team will pay the rest. The cost had originally been $80 million total for the project, but as time has gone on there have been tariffs, a rise in steel prices and inflation. Boston…

Through a public voting process in 2025, this project was selected as one of the winners. The total amount available for…

ICE and DHS are Not Staging Operations at Forest Hills Cemetery

We don’t often report on rumors, but we want to set the record straight — ICE and DHS are not staging operations at the Forest Hills Cemetery. “ICE and [DHS] have not been on the property at all,” said Janice Stetz, VP of administration. “We have had not any contact with ICE [and DHS]. It’s just a rumor, and it’s not true.”

Upgraded: First Church of JP Got a New Roof, Solar Panels, Rebuilding Clock and Bell Tower

The First Church of Jamaica Plain has had a very successful capital campaign during the last several months to raise money for a new roof, install solar panels, and rebuild its clock and bell tower. But there’s more: the church also formed the Monument Square Meetinghouse Foundation, a nonprofit dedicated to the building and grounds — and its first mission is to restore the church’s historic graveyard. The current church and parish hall were built…
