Jamaica Plain’s first decent storm of the year has some fight left in it as of Saturday early afternoon. The National Weather Service is reporting the storm is expected to last through early evening. Accumulations could hit 4-8 inches.

The National Weather Service is calling for an inch or two of snow before precipitation changes over to rain between 9 p.m. and midnight Saturday.

Thursday, Feb. 13
4:14 p.m. — Universal Hub reports traffic being at more-than-usual standstill status around Forest Hills.
1:15 p.m. — The National Weather Service has scaled back its snowfall total estimates because of warming ground temperatures. JP is still in the “4-6 inches” part of their map as of 1 p.m.
At 5 p.m. on Friday it will be 48 hours since Mayor Marty Walsh ended our most recent snow emergency. That means, officially at least, no more space savers.
After Wednesday’s storm dumped more than 10 inches of snow on Jamaica Plain, residents are navigating the sidewalks. Some of them have good shoveling/plowing jobs. Others, not so much.
