If you’ve driven along Francis Parkman Drive recently you may have seen a sizable forest area clearcut by the city to remove dead trees, some of which killed by an insect that feeds by sucking sap from hemlocks.

The Landscape Design Council (LDC) of Massachusetts has recognized Jamaica Plain’s Christine Poff, the director of Boston’s Community Preservation Committee, as a 2018 awardee for excellence in the field of landscape design.

Wednesday was the annual stocking of Jamaica Pond with hundreds of trout and other fishes. As is traditional, Gov. Charlie Baker and local students helped.
