The whole city is mourning the deaths of Lt. Ed Walsh and Firefighter Michael Kennedy, who lost their lives battling a fire in Back Bay on Wednesday. In Jamaica Plain, a memorial has been set up at the Soldier’s Monument where Centre meets South streets.

The city councilor who represents Jamaica Plain reviewed his last year in office and discussed his future priorities at a “Town Hall” style meeting on Wednesday at the Arnold Arboretum.

You can argue that no section of Jamaica Plain is facing more big development projects than Forest Hills. Chief among them is the Casey Overpass being razed in favor of a network of streets. Others include more than 100 condos and rentals on an MBTA-owned parcel near Forest Hills station and the bus yard finally moving.
Jamaica Plain is probably too many things to too many people to have one theme song. But “I Love My Street” by Rick Berlin and the Nickel and Dime Band comes as close as I’ve heard.
The bike rental network Hubway, which finally reached bike-crazed JP just last fall, is gearing up for a new season.
