A 1775 Eyewitness Account of Jamaica Plain

In 1775, at the outbreak of the American Revolution, Sarah Winslow Deming escaped British-occupied Boston and took temporary refuge in Jamaica Plain. Lucinda, whom she enslaved, was with her.  Speakers Natalie Eldridge and Emily Curran of Hidden Jamaica Plain will share their research on Deming’s vivid account of their escape and on Lucinda’s life.

This event is free and open to the public. Light refreshments will be served. It will be in a hybrid format. You can either attend this Jamaica Plain Historical Society sponsored event in person at the Connolly Branch of the BPL or via Zoom.
