Families and Students to Protest Mayor Walsh’s State of the City Address

Boston Mayor Marty Walsh is expected to talk about how public schools can thrive in the city during his 2016 State of the City Address on Tuesday night. But a coalition of families, students, educators, community members and groups will be outside before Walsh’s address protesting forecasted school budget shortfalls.

English High School Students Finally Get MCAS Results

Every single high school student in Massachusetts got results of their MCAS about a month ago — except for the students of English High School in Jamaica Plain.  But finally this week the Department of Elementary Second Education finally released the test results. The Boston Globe reports that state officials have not said why they held back the results, only saying that there were some anomalies with the results.

Boston School Committee Accepting Applications for Two Open Seats

The Boston School Committee is currently accepting applications for two open school committee seats for two four-year terms beginning on January 4th, 2016. The deadline to submit applications is Monday, November 9th at 5 pm.

Isabella Baez-Giangreco, a 10-year-old JP resident who goes to the Manning School, took third place in the Boston Center for Youth and Families City-wide Spelling Bee on Saturday.
