Shooting fatalities are at a historical low in Boston as of now — and the record was set last year.
As of Dec. 21, 2025, there have been 19 fatal shootings for the year, and during the same period in 2024, there were 20 fatal shootings. Not including this year, Boston’s 5-year average for fatal shootings is 29 per year.
In Jamaica Plain, there was an Oct. 22 fatal shooting of a male victim on St. Rose Street.
Nonfatal shootings are also down in 2025 compared to the same time period from 2024. So far there have been 101 nonfatal shootings compared to 106 nonfatal shootings in 2024.
