City Council Candidates Forum at English High on Oct. 28

English High School will be the site for an at-large Boston City Council candidates public forum on Oct. 28.

Seven out of the eight candidates are confirmed that they will attend as of Oct. 25. The lone candidate not confirmed is incumbent At-Large City Councilor Althea Garrison. The three other incumbents — Annissa Essaibi-George, Michael Flaherty, and Michelle Wu — are all confirmed to attend. As are challengers David Halbert, Alejandra St. Guillen, Erin Murphy and Julia Mejia.

The forum is being hosted jointly by the Democratic Ward Committees 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, 19 and 20. The forum will begin at 5:30 pm with a meet and greet with the candidates, and then the at-large forum from 6 to 8 pm. That will be followed a 45-minute forum between the two District 5 candidates Ricardo Arroyo and Marie Esdale Farrell. District 5 is not in Jamaica Plain. District 6 City Councilor Matt O’Malley does not have an opponent.

Tanisha Sullivan, president of Boston’s NAACP will be the moderator.

English High School is located at 144 McBride St.

The wards that are hosting represent the following neighborhoods: Ward 20 (Roslindale, Jamaica Plain, West Roxbury), Ward 19 (Jamaica Plain, Roslindale), Ward 12 (Mission Hill, Jamaica Plain, Roxbury), Ward 11 (Jamaica Plain, Roxbury), Ward 10 (Mission Hill, Jamaica Plain), Ward 9 (Roxbury, South End) and Ward 8 (South End, Roxbury).
