Last updated on August 27, 2019

The Friends of the Jamaica Plain Branch Library have put a call for a new round of submissions to select the art exhibitions for 2020.

Maureen O’Connor: Just Ducky was on view from May 4 through June 30, 2018, at the Jamaica Plain Branch Library.

The bi-monthly exhibits will be proposal-based and selected by a committee comprised by representatives of the Central BPL, JP Branch, Friends of the JP Library, as well as standing members of the local business and arts community, according to a press release.

Artists from across New England are invited to submit recent two-dimensional work for a solo or group show that will lasting for two-month periods. No specific theme is needed, but artists should keep in mind that the works need to be enjoyed by the diverse library community, which includes children, teenagers, and adults.

The following art mediums will be considered for selection of five solo shows and one themed group show: drawing, mixed media/collage, painting, photography, and printmaking.

The shows will be on display in a public area of the Jamaica Plain Branch Library on South Street, and an accompanying reception will be organized by Uforge, the managing partner on behalf of the Friends.

Submission is free. Digital packets must be received by 5 pm on Friday, October 11, 2019. Physical/in-person submissions will not be accepted. For more information about the materials required, please go to http://www.friendsjplibrary.org/gallery-proposal.
