Sherrill House Celebrates ‘The Longest Day’ to Shed Light on Alzheimer’s Awareness

Last updated on July 24, 2019

Sherrill House, a nonprofit nursing home and rehabilitation center in Jamaica Plain, celebrated “The Longest Day,” a worldwide event established by the Alzheimer’s Association to shed light on the disease on the longest day of the year, summer solstice, June 21.

Pictured from left are Gabrayel Knight, a certified nursing assistant; Gloria Dickerson, Sherrill House resident; and Rawal Kshitij, director of the Expressive and Recreational Therapy program.

Residents, family, friends and staff wore purple and joined in activities such as music and motion, art therapy, word games, a bake sale and raffles. Proceeds benefited the Alzheimer’s Association’s regional chapter and supported the purchase of new musical instruments and activity supplies for Sherrill House.
