It appears there will be an Indian restaurant showdown in Forest Hills after the Bukhara Indian Bistro recently announced it’s moving mere feet away from Tikki Masala.
Bukhara will be moving from 701 Centre St., one of the busiest areas for commercial foot traffic in Jamaica Plain, to 3698 Washington St., and Tikki Masala is located at 3706 Washington St.
A sign in Bukhara’s door says they’re moving on April 1. It is not clear whether they will be opening in their new location on that day.
Maybe a new location will serve Bukhara well, as they were shutdown twice for extended periods of time in 2018 for health code violations. They may also want to be weary of the failed restaurant ghosts that may haunt their new location — as Tonic and Grass Fed both went under in that spot.
Tikka Masala moved to Forest Hills during 2014, a time when Forest Hills was gridlocked due to the Casey Arboway project, points out Universalhub.com.
