One Dead After Saturday Night Shooting on South Street

A shooting on South Street by a barbershop left one victim dead on Saturday night.

Boston Police were called to the area of 140 South St. around 9:48 pm for a report of a shooting and found a male, believed to be in his 20s, suffering from a gunshot wound, according to bpdnews.com. The victim was transported to an area hospital and later succumbed from his injuries.

The Professional Barber Shop is located at 140 South St., and Boston Police were going in and out of that location after the shooting. A media relations officer told Jamaica Plain News that as of 3:30 pm on Sunday it was not known whether the shooting happened inside the barbershop or outside of it. It is currently an ongoing investigation.

The Boston Globe spoke with a man at the scene who said he heard four gunshots while standing outside of the barbershop. The anonymous witness said he then saw a man dressed in all black and a ski mask run down South Street towards the Forest Hills MBTA station.
