This is a new way to get people to door knock for a political campaign — offer free yoga. That’s what state representative candidate Nika Elugardo is doing.
“Thank you so much for all your support and enthusiasm for our campaign. We have come such a long way and still have a ways to go, but we owe it all to the generous support we receive on a daily basis. We wanted to show our appreciation by inviting you all to a free yoga class before sending off the Saturday canvass. You can attend the yoga class without canvassing, and you can canvass without doing the yoga first, but we of course encourage you to participate in both!” writes Elugardo in a campaign email.
The 60-minute yoga class will be held on August 18 at 9 am at the Pinebank Promontory at Jamaica Pond. It is open to all experience levels, whether you’re new to yoga or a longtime practicer. There will be 10 yoga mats available, so it’s recommended that you bring your own mat.
The class is being led by Adriana Robertson, a life coach with extensive yoga training. (Robertson’s definitely gets points for including numerous photos of herself in the Arnold Arboretum on her website.)
And if you want to canvass for Elugardo afterwards, bring a smartphone, a water bottle and a pen. The yoga classes are walk-in, but it’s recommended you RSVP info@electnika.com to let them know you’re coming, and obviously so they can get you to canvass.
