Jamaica Plain’s Marge Dunn is playing Sherlock Holmes in the play that was written by Christopher Walsh, and based upon the characters by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle.

“I love a good mystery,” said Weylin Symes, director and producing artistic director. “When I found Chris Walsh’s version of Sherlock Holmes, I immediately knew I wanted to produce it. The idea of a traditional Sherlock Holmes mystery with a female Holmes and Watson is so simple, elegant and obvious that I’m surprised no one thought of it before now. In addition to being a great murder mystery, watching Sherlock and Watson negotiate the gender dynamics of 19th-century London adds a new element to the story that makes it all the more enjoyable.”

The cast features local Boston actors Dunn as Holmes, Daniel Berger-Jones, Shelley Bolman, Monica Giordano, Cheryl McMahon, Alexander Platt, Damon Singletary, Patrick Varner, and Greater Boston Stage Young Company alum Brittany Rolfs as Watson.

The Greater Boston Stage Company’s “Miss Holmes runs from April 5 to 22. Click here for more information and tickets.
