Head to Symphony Hall this weekend to hear the works of Haydn and Mozart with violinist Katherine Winterstein.
Mozart called Haydn his “best friend.” Haydn called Mozart “the greatest composer I know.” This weekend you’ll be able to hear why the two had such great respect for one another. This is the first performance of the Handel and Haydn Society in 2017 with Mozart and Haydn, and will be conducted by artistic director Harry Christophers.
Winterstein, of Jamaica Plain, is a member of the Handel and Haydn Society, and was asked where she likes performing.
“I enjoy playing with a number of groups in varied locations — including with Handel and Haydn Society at both Symphony and Jordan Halls as well as the Craftsbury Chamber Players in Vermont during the summer,” said Winterstein. “I also enjoy the great difference of playing with large, world-wide organizations like the Boston Pops and a very intimate place like my own living room, where I host a monthly concert for friends and neighbors.”
