Get out those antiques you’ve always wondered about because Loring-Greenough House’s Annual Appraisal Day is on Saturday. There will also be a silent auction for a beautiful Oriental rug, which unfortunately, is not believed to be a magic carpet.
Enjoy Jamaica Plain’s version of the Antiques Roadshow from noon to 4 pm anyone is welcome to attend the event at the Loring-Greenough House (12 South St.). Bring your antique dressers, tables and art to have them appraised by professional appraisers Edward Stanley and Patrick Byrne of Cobwebs.
There is a donation of $10 per item or $25 for three items to be appraised. Individuals can bring a maximum of three items. Please do not bring jewelry, stamps or coins, as they will not be evaluated.
There will also be a silent auction of magnificent Oriental carpet that was recently donated to the Loring-Greenough House. It is a richly colored and patterned carpet that would surely be a stunning addition to any room. Again — it is not believed to be a magic carpet. The Turkish carpet was acquired several years ago in Istanbul, Turkey by the generous donors who gifted it to the Loring-Greenough House. It is room-size and measures 11 ft x 10 inch x 8 ft. 3 inches.
Proceeds of the event will benefit the Preservation Fund of the Loring-Greenough House.
