Visiting zoo animals and indulging in tasty samples — does it get much better? This year’s Taste of Jamaica Plain will be held Thursday, Sept. 15, from 6 to 9 p.m. at the Franklin Park Zoo’s Tropical Forest Exhibit.
The Taste, in its 21st year, is a fundraiser for ESAC, or Ensuring Stability through Action in our Community. Ticket sales and the evening’s auction all help support the work of the local organization, which includes helping at-risk youths obtain a GED education in order to improve their future employment opportunities; providing home-repair assistance to help low-income seniors continue to live independently in their homes; and offering foreclosure counseling and mediation to help families stay in their homes.
And, of course, there will be tons of tasty treats from a wide variety of neighborhood restaurants, plus live music and some delightful zoo inhabitants. Visit this website to buy your tickets, which are $50 ahead of time ($40 for seniors) or $75 at the door, or to make a donation in lieu of attendance. And visit ESAC’s “Sponsors and Supporters” page for a taste of the restaurants from JP and the surrounding neighborhoods you might expect to see at this year’s event.
