Driver in 2014 Crash Near Shea Rotary Pleads Guilty

A driver who injured another motorist in an Oct. 7, 2014, crash near the Shea Rotary in Jamaica Plain pleaded guilty Wednesday to negligent operation of a motor vehicle in order to avoid a trial, according to the district attorney’s office.

Brian P. Johnson, 27, of Dorchester, will be back in court for a June 2 hearing at which he will face a maximum two-year sentence in a house of correction. Additionally, the Registry of Motor Vehicles is expected to revoke Johnson’s driver’s license, which is currently suspended.

ADA Megan O’Rourke withdrew an additional count of operating under the influence of drugs in light of a peculiarity in Massachusetts law that would have required proof beyond a reasonable doubt of the specific drug that impaired him, which could not be determined given that no drugs or paraphernalia were recovered from the defendant’s vehicle, the DA’s office said.
