A “Black Lives Matter” Banner was unfurled at the entrance of the First Baptist Church on Centre Street during a public ceremony Sunday afternoon. The original sign was stolen last month.
From the Boston Globe:
About 60 people gathered Sunday afternoon as the Rev. Ashlee Wiest-Laird unveiled a new banner at a rededication service, pledging to hold more events aimed at drawing awareness to social inequities.
“In 1842 this church sent a letter to the Baptist Mission Society saying slavery was unacceptable,” declared Rev. Ashlee Wiest-Laird, the church’s pastor, “because black lives mattered then and black lives matter now.”
Universal Hub also linked to a photo gallery documenting the banner rededication ceremony.
