Yesteryear, an antiques and furniture store on the corner of South and Sedgwick streets, has closed up shop. A “Hi There” note remains on the door, but “To Rent” signs are posted in the windows, and the interior is empty, save a single chandelier.
It’s possible that construction at the Jamaica Plain branch library directly across Sedgwick Street, which is expected to take 18 to 24 months, could make finding a tenant more difficult in the short term. This also makes for another vacant storefront within a block of where Harvest Co-op closed in April. That building remains vacant.
It’s safe to say, this stretch of South Street might look very different in a year or two.
