Fazenda Coffee Roasters on Washington Street across from Forest Hills Station is seeking to transform from a coffeehouse into a tastings-style restaurant, which would also serve liquor, Universal Hub reports.
The proposed Brassica Kitchen and Cafe would maintain its morning coffee and pastry service. The Boston Licensing Board held a hearing on the matter this morning, and will vote on the establishment’s all-alcohol license tomorrow. Already, some pop-up tasting events have taken place using one-day liquor licenses.
Fazenda replaced another coffeehouse in the same location, Java Jo’s, in 2011. The stretch of Washington Street across from Forest Hills features a mix of restaurants longstanding (Dogwood Cafe), on the rise (Eugene O’Neill’s) and short-lived (Tonic).
