Residents can enjoy a few weeks of respite from noisy night work along the Casey Arborway — but the after-hours hammering begins again Sunday, July 19. The next phase of night work runs for a month, until Friday, Aug. 21.
The Department of Transportation made the night work notification on Wednesday. This time, instead of being focused on the Washington Street side, the work will be between the 39 Bus stop and South Street.
Authorities say some Casey work must be done at night so that busy roads beneath the demolition (Washington, in the last night work phase, for instance) do not have to be rerouted.
Night work takes place from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. Here’s a run-down of the promises the state has made about noise.
