The Boston Globe reports that an abutter of State Senator Sonia Chang-Díaz, D-Boston, has sued over the politician adding a story to her Bremen Terrace home — claiming she received special treatment.

Chang-Díaz and husband Bryan Hirsch received a variance from the Zoning Board of Appeals for the work on their Forest Hills home, but the couple did not file the “long form” building permit required. As the Globe explains in a follow-up story, homeowners can go ahead with construction without that form, but it’s “at risk” of having to remove the work if expected approvals don’t pan out.

Neighbor Brian Wells’ suit also targets the city of Boston, the Inspectional Services Department and the Board of Appeal.
