Prosecutors say Heath Carson, 35, of Quincy robbed J.P. Variety Store at gunpoint and was the wheelman in a holdup of Tostado Sandwich Bar.
Suffolk County District Attorney Dan Conley’s office on Tuesday said Carson had turned himself in after a warrant was taken out for his arrest.
While charges have not yet been brought in other recent holdups along Centre Street, prosecutors said police are investigating links between Carson and other armed robberies in December and January.
Carson was arraigned on charges of armed robbery, assault with a dangerous weapon and unlawful possession of a firearm in the Jan. 22 holdup of Tostado in Jackson Square. Prosecutors say Carson gave a gun to previously-arrested suspect Richard Perry of Taunton and drove him to the 300 Centre St. restaurant.
Carson was held on $10,000 bail and taken to Cambridge District Court, where he faces further charges.
In the armed robbery of J.P. Variety Store, prosecutors allege that Carson put what looked like a gun to a clerk’s back and made off with $400 from the register, $15 from the clerk and 36 packs of Marlboros.
Prosecutors said surveillance footage ID’d him. A search of Carson’s vehicle allegedly uncovered clothes matching those worn during the robbery.
Carson’s next court date is March 12.
Here are photos police released when they were looking for the man who robbed City Feed on Jan. 16. Carson has not been charged with that robbery.
