A larger-than-life lingerie model that’s turning heads in Hyde Square may violate the city’s rules about sidewalk advertising.
The “flag” style advertisement for the Diseño D’Prada line of girdles recently appeared outside Centre Fashions (also known as Vassallo’s) at 362 Centre St.
At Wednesday’s meeting of a neighborhood “Problem Properties” committee, the risqué vertical banner came in for good-natured criticism from the mayor’s liaison to JP, Jullieanne Doherty.
She said that type of advertising flag isn’t allowed in the city’s business districts (though the vertical flags are often seen in the suburbs and in more suburban parts of Boston like West Roxbury.) Doherty said she’d spoken with the shop’s owner about taking the flag down.
