For our Photo of the Day on Thursdays, we highlight an image of old JP, often from the online archives of the Jamaica Plain Historical Society.

This photo is a reminder of when ice used to be big business in Boston and Jamaica Pond was a primary place to harvest it. The Historical Society is sponsoring a talk on this vanished industry in January.
