Kick-start the Next Jamaica Plain Porchfest: Wasn’t Porchfest great? Now’s your chance to put some cash behind next year’s edition of the event, which organizers hope to include more porches and more local musicians.
Man Dies on Orange Line: You may have been caught in delays on the Orange Line just after 6 p.m. Wednesday. A man was struck by a southbound train at Haymarket. The man later died, according to Universal Hub. Traffic in both directions was shut down for a time.
Final “Thursdays on the Lawn” of 2014: Thursday is the last time this year for the farmers market and other weekly festivities at the Loring-Greenough House. “Thursdays on the Lawn” begins at 3:30 p.m. and runs until dusk. Free. 12 South St.
