Boston Police say a Tower Street woman reported a man struck her with his handgun and stole two bags from her on Saturday morning.
The woman, in her 60s, was coming out of her home around 9 that morning when a man assaulted her, striking her face and head, said Officer Neva Coakley.
The mugger fled in a newer-model BMW.
Later, police stopped a vehicle matching that description. However, the victim was unable to confirm that the person in the car was her attacker.
Coakley encouraged residents to remain vigilant and read up on police tips on how to minimize your chances of becoming a victim.
Jamaica Plain has been on heightened alert for muggings after a string of them near the Pond, in Franklin Park and elsewhere in the neighborhood. Coakley said police continue to investigate all the armed robberies.
There’s a community meeting Wednesday to address recent incidents in Franklin Park.
