The welcome rain should taper off before First Thursday Artwalk begins at 5 p.m. Thursday along Centre/South. More than 40 locations will be hosting art of some kind.
This is the final Centre/South Main Streets Artwalk of the 2014 season. It runs through 9 p.m. Thursday. Here are a few highlights:
Cash Mob: Each Artwalk, one of JP’s local businesses is selected to be the beneficiary of a “cash mob.” The idea is simple: Bring $10 or $20 (or more!) and give one of our local merchants an infusion of business. Thursday’s beneficiary is Café Beirut, 654 Centre St. Begins at 7 p.m. on the dot.
Comedy Night: At First Baptist Church, 633 Centre St., at 7:30 p.m.
Arts & Crafts For Kids: At the Loring-Greenough House, 12 South St.
Spooky Jazz: The Brimstones bring a Halloween theme to their sets at City Feed, 672 Centre St., from 6-8 p.m. There will also, as usual, be plenty of local food tastings.
Thursday night is also a great time to bid farewell for now to Andrew Zarro, the outgoing (in both senses of the word) executive director of Centre/South Main Street. He’ll still be around the neighborhood, but is moving to the private sector.
