Hello neighbors. Nice to finally get some rain, eh? Here’s your Morning Memo for all things JP for Tuesday, Sept. 30.
Nineteenth Annual Taste of Jamaica Plain: I’ll be honest. Having been a community journalist for 17 years, I’ve covered my share of “Taste of [Insert Town Name Here]” where the actual food wasn’t worth the price of your ticket. Or your time. That’s not the case in JP, where the Ecumenical Social Action Committee’s long-standing “Taste of JP” draws on a rich variety of good restaurants in JP and Roslindale. Here’s a partial list of this year’s participants:
- Aurum Restaurant
- Bella Luna Restaurant
- Boston Beer Company (Sam Adams)
- Bukhara Indian Bistro
- Centre Street Sanctuary
- The Dogwood Cafe
- Fiore’s Bakery
- Gondres Bakery
- Himalayan Bistro
- Grass Fed
- J.P. Licks
- Latino Restaurant
- Mangia Neapolitan Restaurant
- Masona Grill
- Redd’s in Rozzie
- Ten Tables
- Ula Cafe
- Vee Vee
- West on Centre
- Wok ‘n Talk
The Taste of JP is Thursday, 6-9 p.m. at Our Lady of Lourdes Parish Hall, 45 Brookside Ave. Here are the details on tickets.
[And, full disclosure, Ecumenical Social Action Committee is an advertiser, as you can see to the right if you’re on a laptop or scrolling down on a phone.]Caffè Nero Seeks Takeout License: If you’ve been following efforts by the international coffee company Caffè Nero’s campaign to get approval for a JP location, the next public meeting on the subject is Wednesday. The Zoning Committee of the JP Neighborhood Council will hear the cafe’s argument for support on a takeout license for their planned 733 Centre St. coffee house. Caffè Nero officials say they expect about 35 percent of their business to be takeout. The meeting is Wednesday, 7 p.m., at Farnsworth House, 90 South St.
JP Rocks and Rolls Art Fair is Sunday: It’s become a great place to buy vinyl and hand-made crafts. This is the event’s fourth year. Sunday, 11 a.m.-3 p.m., at Spontaneous Celebrations, 45 Danforth St. Here’s more info.
Have a great rest of the day, JP.
