Dr. Barbara Ferrer, a longtime Jamaica Plain resident, is leaving her post atopthe city’s Public Health Commission for a job with the Kellogg Foundation.
Mayor Marty Walsh’s office announced the news on Monday.
“For more than half of her 25-year public service career, Dr. Ferrer has led the City’s work to improve the health of all residents, particularly those most vulnerable,” said a press release on the move.
Ferrer, who stays on as executive director of the commission until Friday, Oct. 3. will become chief strategy officer for the Kellogg Foundation, which is based in Battle Creek, Mich. She will be moving from JP, confirmed Gabrielle Farrell, press aide to Walsh.
