Good morning, JP! Here’s your Morning Memo for Friday, Sept. 5.
How to Get to the JP Music Festival: Saturday is the big day, with more than 20 bands converging on Pinebank Field. Walking is of course the best way to go, given the crowds. Bikes are a close second. New at this festival are two transportation options: A trolley operated by the Sam Adams Brewery and a coupon for cheaper Uber service. The trolley will be making the following stops:
Stony Brook T > Music Festival (drops at Perkins Street steps) > The Haven > The Behan > Tres Gatos > Bukhara > James’s Gate > Stony Brook T
For updates on the trolley during the festival, follow @jpmusicfestival.
Veterans’ Resource Fair: This isn’t in JP, but I wanted to mention it. If you served the country in the military and are looking for work, legal help or health care, there’s a Veterans’ Resource Fair on Saturday, Sept. 27, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the American Legion in Mattapan, 1531 Blue Hill Ave.
Free Walking Tour of Hyde Square: This Saturday’s free walking tour from the JP Historical Society focuses on Hyde Square. You’ll learn about the transportation history, ethnic changes and what the MSPCA buildings were before their current use. Free. Meet at Sorella’s at 11 a.m. Saturday.
Okay, have a great rest of the day, neighbors.
