Well, I’ve let it get to afternoon again before delivering your Morning Memo, but here’s your better-late-than-never edition for Friday, Aug. 8.
Get Tickets for JP-Based Debo Band’s Outdoor Show at the MFA: Debo Band, which has been getting buzz for its Ethiopian-inspired musical fusion, will headline an concert in the Museum of Fine Arts courtyard on Wednesday, Aug. 20. Seating is limited, so grab your tickets now. Not that you’ll actually be sitting down of course. Above, I’ve embedded a video of them performing in Seattle, Wash., if you’re unfamiliar with the group.
Free Walking Tour of Jamaica Pond: It’s easy to think there’s nothing new to know about the Pond. Odds are you’ve strolled around it at least dozens of times. But on Saturday, the JP Historical Society will lead one of its free tours of the area. I guarantee you’ll learn something new. Tour departs from the bandstand at 11 a.m. Saturday.
Purple Cactus Honors Departing Manager: Don’t freak out if you crave a turkey and avocado burrito on Saturday only to find Purple Cactus closed the day. The restaurant at the corner of Centre and Seaverns will be closed for an employee party to honor restaurant manager Jen Fiano, who is leaving after five years at the shop’s helm.
Looking for Work? Love Kids and Get Your Hands in the Earth?: Boston Natural Areas Network is looking for someone to help kids learn to love their Mother through the Students Learning Through Urban Gardening program.
Have a great rest of your Friday and the weekend, neighbors.
[Editor’s note: The headline and body text have been updated to show that the Debo Band concert at the MFA is Wednesday, Aug. 20.]
