On Centre Boutique Is Moving to Former Q Salon Space

The former Q Salon and Spa space at 676 Centre St. will become the new, much bigger home of On Centre.

Q Salon and Spa recently decamped for 585 Mass. Ave. in the South End. Local entrepreneur Jennifer Lydon did a ton of renovations to the space before leaving.

Before it was Q Salon, 676 Centre was home to Jamaicaway Books and, for a time, a Southern eatery downstairs.

On Centre will be able to more than double its space from the nearby 636 Centre St. storefront it now occupies. A friend of boutique owner Philip Celeste tells Jamaica Plain News the store will open in its new digs on Sept. 1.

The current location will remain open through the end of August, according to that friend, Alexandria Holden. The store is holding a moving sale with between 10 and 75 percent off, according to its Facebook page.

Jamaica Plain News readers had lots of ideas for the space when, back in June, we asked the neighborhood what should go there. Ideas ranged from an English pub to a hybrid art store that could serve all the creative types in JP.
