The (usually) elected body of residents who advise downtown about what JP wants added Kristy Nardone and Dana Gonsalves.
The Jamaica Plain Neighborhood Council is back to full strength now that vacancies that are usually filled by election have newly appointed members.
Dana Gonsalves, maintenance superintendent for the JP Neighborhood Development Corp.’s Brewery Development, rejoined the council in late March.
“I felt I helped the community during my last run,” Gonsalves said at the time.
In addition to his work at The Brewery, Gonsalves also is the live-in manager for the single room occupancy development at 35 Creighton St.
Kristy Nardone, who was chosen by sitting council members from among three candidates for the final vacant seat, lives on Eliot Place.
“I just want to give back to Jamaica Plain,” said Nardone, who is director of administration for a department at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center.
The advisory board holds little formal power in that its recommendations can be spurned by city panels like the Zoning Board of Appeals or License Commission. But in practice, the Neighborhood Council usually guides those formal decisions.
The Neighborhood Council does much of its work in committees, with those recommendations ratified at the end of each month in a meeting of the entire council.
