Hello neighborhood. Here’s your Morning Memo for all things JP for Thursday, May 22.
Annual Meeting of the JP Neighborhood Development Corp.: It’s hard to argue that any one organization has had more of an affect on what gets built around here than the JP Neighborhood Development Corp. Just a handful of their projects include the Brewery, the former Blessed Sacrament campus and the revitalization of Jackson Square. Here’s an online map of all their projects or projects they helped midwife. It’s an impressive list. On Thursday, the organization holds its annual meeting. It’s always a lively affair. Thursday, May 22, 6-9 p.m. at Our Lady of Lourdes Parish Hall, 45 Brookside Ave.
English/Spanish Intercambio: Whether you’re an English speaker trying to improve your Spanish or a Spanish speaker looking to practice your English, the JP Branch Library has a group you’ll want to check out. Each Thursday from 6:30-7:45 p.m. the “Intercambio” group meets. I’ve participated in it and highly recommend it. Free, 12 Sedgwick St.
Take a Walking Tour of Stony Brook: The JP Historical Society has a wonderful series of free walking tours that explore the many sub-neighborhoods that give JP its flavor. Saturday’s tour is of the Stony Brook area around what is today Boston Beer Company. Meets at 11 a.m. at the Stony Brook T station.
